Effective treatment for dark tattoo inks

With the overwhelming popularity of tattoos over the last ten years, the market for effective removal has exploded. Tattoos are created by injecting coloured pigment into small deep holes made in the skin. Regardless of whether a tattoo artist or an untrained individual injects the pigment, the marks or designs are relatively permanent. When people subsequently want their tattoos removed, most physicians today consider laser surgery one of the best methods. The Q-switched Nd:YAG is the most frequently used laser for tattoo removal. During treatment, pulses of light from the laser are directed onto the tattoo, breaking up the tattoo pigment. Over the next several weeks the body’s macrophages remove the treated pigmented areas. With the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser available on the Harmony®XL laser system, you can effectively treat dark tattoo inks, specifically black (which accounts for more than half of all tattoos), blue and green. Patients should expect to come back for several treatments to achieve expected results.

Technology in use

Tattoo ink and natural pigmentation like melanin absorb short pulse duration/high peak energy Q-switched pulses so quickly that they create a photo-acoustic effect within the pigment clusters. This effect breaks down the ink into much smaller particles that can be more easily removed by the body’s natural filtering system.

Key Advantages for Patients

  • Minimal risk of side effects
  • Effective treatment for dark tattoo inks (black, blue and green)
  • Dramatic results after several treatments

The ultimate lunchtime quick fix, this treatment is sometimes described as a “laser neck lift” because of the dramatic results achievable after just 30 minutes if it is used for neck rejuvenation. It works by treating the epidermis and upper dermis, creating tiny ablative zones which stimulate the growth of young, healthy tissue and a greater collagen production rate.

Alma Laser’s ClearLift delivers a controlled dermal “wound” without harming the overlying epidermis so that all stages of healing and skin repair occur under the intact epidermis (skin surface). That is why patients don’t see any peeling, flaking, redness or swelling. No numbing is required prior to treatment and as skin healing happens without damaging the outer skin layer which means no pain during or after the procedure.

Advantages

  • It’s a painless procedure
  • No downtime (no peeling, redness, swelling etc.)
  • Effective on all skin types (including African and Asian)
  • Very effective for neck sagging and crepiness (turkey neck)
  • Successful freckles removal
  • Hands and face rejuvenation
  • Eyes & periorbital rejuvenation
  • Affordable

What is Botox®?

BOTOX® is the commercial trade name for Botulinum Toxin Type A. Botulinum Toxin is derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. When injected into muscles, Botulinum Toxin has a local effect. It blocks transmission between the nerve endings and muscle fibres around the injection site to cause weakness of the nearby muscle.

What is Botox® used for?

Botox® is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment for moderate to severe frown lines. It is typically used in people aged 18 to 65. Botox® works by blocking nerve transmission to temporarily reduce the contractions of the facial muscles that cause frown lines. It has been proven to be a safe and effective treatment for wrinkles, and Botox® injections are becoming increasingly popular.

Who can have Botox® treatment?

Your doctor will decide if you can have cosmetic treatment with Botox®. Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you have any disorders that affect your nerves and muscles, if you are breastfeeding, or if you are planning to become pregnant soon.

Always wanted a radiant, smooth and younger looking skin without roughness, signs of sun damage or pigmentation?

Now there’s a brand new way to reverse the signs of aging and ensure your younger, radiant and fresh look – I Pixel Laser – State of the art fractional skin resurfacing treatment.

It represents the latest generation of fractional laser skin resurfacing devices. It is capable of improving a variety of skin conditions without downtime and discomfort that is usually associated with other, old fashioned resurfacing laser.

WHAT CAN IT DO?

It lifts away years from your face. I-Pixel Laser will improve your skin’s texture and tone to fight fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and even acne scars. It will also stimulate new collagen growth. Dramatic skin tone and texture improvement will be usually noticeable after one single treatment.

Our patients love this treatment because it:

  • Clears sun-damaged skin
  • Smoothes away fine lines and wrinkles
  • Shrinks enlarged pores
  • Diminishes acne scars
  • Blends uneven pigmentation (even epidermal melasma)
  • Decreases skin roughness and dullness

HOW DOES IT WORK?

I-Pixel laser pulses create tiny ablative zones, removing the epidermis and upper dermis leaving 65% of the skin intact. The treatment then triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new healthy skin tissue.

The treatment is fractional which means that the procedure treats small zones of the skin, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. These large unaffected areas act as a reservoir for effective and rapid healing, revealing new, healthier & smoother skin with a beautiful glow! It’s the skin you had when you were 15!

Fractional CO2 resurfacing can erase years from your face and dramatically improve the appearance of wrinkles and pigment, but it is not a lunchtime procedure. By targeting zones deep in the skin as opposed to the entire skin surface, fractional CO2 resurfacing is a one-time procedure.

Benefits:

  • Dramatically improves the appearance of wrinkles and pigmentation / discolouration and scarring
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Treats aged, photo-damaged and acne scarred skin

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • Avoid direct sunlight and keep skin moist and cool to aid healing.
  • Avoid environmental irritants during healing process (e.g., dust, dirt, aerosols, cleaning agents).
  • Avoid dryness and excessive heat (no high heat on blow dryer, medium heat is fine during healing process).
  • Avoid any vigorous exercising for 2 weeks.
  • Stay hydrated, eat healthy foods, and avoid alcohol.
  • Redness and a sunburn-type sensation will normally last several hours.
  • Neck redness is more persistent and will usually last several days longer than face redness.
  • Face will normally bronze and peel within 3-5 days (Note: skin below neck normally requires up to 2 weeks to bronze and peel).

DAY OF TREATMENT:

  • Keep treated areas covered with topical ointment/cream as instructed by physician.
  • Apply cooling compresses (e.g., bag of frozen peas or wet paper towels frozen in Ziploc bag) Note: do not apply ice directly to skin and do not use towels as detergents may irritate skin.
  • If desired, you may spray water mist on skin using distilled or spring water.
  • May take an analgesic (e.g., Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen) for discomfort.

What are fillers or injectable fillers?

Dermal fillers, also known as injectable fillers offer immediately obvious results that are much cheaper than surgical procedures. Dermal fillers are made from a number of different materials and the effects on wrinkles and lines range from temporary to permanent, depending on the type of injectable filler used. Dermal fillers are used to plump up fine lines, wrinkles, some scarring, and augment the lips by restoring volume and definition

The dermal injectable filler procedure

Before treatment the skin is numbed with a cream containing a local anaesthetic. The filler is then applied via injections. The process should take about 30 minutes. As to be expected the process is not without pain especially the deep injections to the cheek area that are about as painful as a bee sting.

What is Lipolysis?

Injection lipolysis is a controversial cosmetic procedure in which drug mixtures are injected into patients with the goal of destroying fat cells.

The hydroxyl radicals act only on fat cells; the low concentration of Vitamin C does not harm skin or muscle. The Ceccarelli protocol employs a physiological process naturally occurring in the body, resulting in minimal post procedural swelling and inflammation or tenderness. One to three treatments are necessary to achieve patient results required, which are visible in a few days, with further improvement thereafter.

Common Areas Treated

Face
Fatty jawline • Eye bags • Naso-labial bulges • Jowls • Double chin

Body
Resistant tummy fat • Love handles • Inner thighs • Saddle bags • Bra bulges • Bat wings • Knees • Cellulite bulges

Procedure

The solution is injected into localised fatty deposits in a grid like pattern. Injections of about 1ml per site, at about 1cm apart. In a single session the maximum to be injected is 200ml. No area on the body larger than two hands should be treated in a single session.

The number of sessions required depends on the amount of resistant fat that needs to be dissolved. In most cases, one treatment is sufficient, but for a moderate amount of fat usually 2 to 3 treatments are needed. Treatments can be repeated every 2 to 4 weeks over a 6 to 8 week period.
